HOW-TO-BRAND-YOURSELF

If you ever find yourself in a rut or not sure how to voice your brand with a fresh approach, don’t pull your hair out over it. You don’t always have to reinvent the game.

Curate.

If an entirely new voice isn’t coming to you, recycle and recreate through research of others. Search through blogs, magazines, online news, videos and forums until certain voices resonate with you and you feel you have something inspiring to share, tweet about and refer to in status updates. Sites like Pinterest and Tumblr are brilliant platforms for curating, with huge audiences as well.

Gather.

You must collect and reassemble content you find that works well with your brand. Get it all organized and looking efficient, and post for the targeted audience. You have to understand that it’s ok to take from others (as long as you credit the original author) and share for the benefit of your branding.  For example, if I wanted to start a twitter account that gives philosophical advice every day, instead of trying to be an expert on philosophy, I would just take quotes from great philosophers. Anything I may find powerful and inspiring I would go ahead and tweet/blog about. The size of my audience isn’t dependent on whether I wrote the tweet or not, but rather the curation and consistent delivery of good content. I am sharing information that relates with my brands identity. Fair Play.

Promote Online & Off.

It might seem daunting, but promote what you’re doing in the online world, in the real world as well. You want to expand your branding and cross promoting increases your value in both arenas.

If you’re scheduled to present at work or pitch your brand and voice to 10 people, you may want to consider filming it live and streaming it online. This way, instead of privately voicing your identity to a handful, you’re potentially reaching millions. Promote your presentation by tweeting about it, share it on your blog, upload the video to YouTube etc. Take a poll when you present and announce the results on your blog. If you happened to have a slideshow when you were presenting definitely turn this into an article for online. Any single promotional branding you do, can be turned into a few postings, increasing your subscribers dramatically.

Reinforce.

Asses your brands postings and your communications and find a way in which you can combine the content to re-create and post something new. Perhaps you have several dozen tweets you can transform into an online article or video presentation? If so, do it!

Many people’s blog posts can in fact be turned into a book. If you search “blog into book” on Google, you’ll see millions of results. By no means is this a new revelation, but it’s a valuable tool nonetheless. It will maximize your branding voice and communication.

Band Together.

Co-authoring an article, book or whitepaper. You will spend less work and notice the reception and output is greater than if you were to publish independently. Co-authoring will allow you free time you can spend elsewhere, but your brand tends to become reinforced and carry more weight and “heat” when you carry your message with another author. Collaborations are powerful. You and your co-author separately publish to your respective communities and in turn, both audiences acknowledge you and your partner. You’ve just doubled your viewership!

These are subtle shifts in building your branding online, but they create enough sizable waves to see a change in audience size. Have fun with your branding. Here at Integrity Media Corp, branding is our game, feel free to contact us for a free brand consultation.
